Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility

’We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give’
     Winston Churchill

At Kleinwort Benson we believe that your wealth can be a powerful tool for good. We understand that you may wish to select some or all of a range of options, from philanthropy to socially responsible investing. We see this as a way to translate your personal passions into significant change, ensuring your money has the maximum desired effect.

Many of our employees are interested in the impact they can have in the local community and choose to volunteer or raise funds for a variety of organisations and charities.  Kleinwort Benson supports this for both local organisations and national charities such as the Anthony Nolan, which has been our chosen partnership charity since the beginning of 2009.  The charity is the leading charity dedicated to recruiting donors for sufferers of leukaemia and has given over 5,800 children and adults the gift of life since it was founded over 30 years ago. In total, Kleinwort Benson has enabled over £300,000 to be raised for the charity through various events it has staged over a decade and that employees and local communities have supported.

Volunteering days are arranged throughout the year for employees to enjoy and learn new skills with the help of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.  Recent opportunities have included a group of employees (pictured) creating a Reading Garden at a primary school in Bethnal Green in London.  This was in partnership with Business in the Community through their popular Give and Gain Day during the annual Volunteering Week.

Other organisations that Kleinwort Benson has supported through volunteering days have included Fairbridge and Gerald Durrell.

Our Green Award

Kleinwort Benson has also been recognised for their environmental contribution and in 2008 our Guernsey office was awarded the Keep Guernsey Green Award. This was a result of the staff maintaining a high level of awareness regarding the difference personal contributions can make.

In the UK our London office has advanced recycling and energy saving policies and continually assesses where improvements can be made.
