Richard Stanwell

Richard Stanwell has worked in Wealth Management for over 12 years and offers a wealth of experience advising UK-based private clients,  their families and charities in the management of their financial affairs. Richard  joined Kleinwort Benson as Head of the Newbury office, in January 2010, from Barclays Wealth.  

Richard graduated with a BA Hons in Ancient History, he started his career in the Lloyds Insurance market before working as a stockbroker and Investment Manager, at Killik & Co and then Gerrard Investment Management, where he specialised in Ethical Investments. Richard also holds the Advanced Financial Planning certificate, including Taxation, trusts and Personal Investment planning.

Richard moved into Private Banking working for Barclays Wealth so that he could focus on providing more bespoke and holistic solutions to clients, in addition to managing his UK based clients he also specialises in dealing with UK resident Non Domicile clients.

Richard is married with twins, outside of work, his other interests are tennis, wine, rowing and opera.

Gerald Sanford

Gerald joined Kleinwort Benson in September 2010 to work in the Newbury office. He will work with high net worth individuals and charities in the Thames Valley and the South West.

Previously Gerald worked as a Private Banker at Barclays Wealth for five years where he built experience in dealing with all aspects of wealth management and finding solutions in areas from cash management to credit, wealth structuring and investment management, for UK clients as well as UK Resident Non-domiciled and International clients. Gerald spent 12 years in the Army, The Royal Green Jackets, before starting his career in private banking.

Gerald graduated from Reading University with a BSc (Hons) in Land Management. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Gerald is married with two young children and enjoys golf, rugby, shooting and horseracing.

Catherine Whyle

Catherine joined us from Coutts and Co having gained twenty years experience in the financial services market.  The last fifteen of which have been focused in the Private Wealth Private Client arena, specialising in delivering a high quality client experience across all aspects of banking. 

She has developed a keen interest and knowledge in the areas of family business, philanthropy, business entrepreneurs and professional client bases and is instrumental in organising network opportunities for the Bank, supporting our Private Bankers in all aspects of their role.
