Investment opportunities abound in 2011, says market analyst

Private banking customers have reason to be optimistic in 2011 as there will be "great opportunities for long-term investment".

That is the opinion of markets expert JW Jones, who wrote in an article for Investor Place that he intends to take advantage of the predicted price action in the next 12 months.

Although its value cannot rise indefinitely, investment in gold represents a solid move as its upward trend seems likely to continue for the foreseeable future, he stated.

However, investors should be wary that at some point there will be significant volatility in the price of the precious metal, Mr Jones continued.

The expert added another opportunity could present itself in the likely shrinkage of the Standard & Poor's 500 index, which may result in long-term gains for financiers buying at reduced prices.

Finally, the writer claimed the value of a barrel of oil is likely to jump next year as a result of rising inflation, increased demand and an ever-decreasing supply.
