Annual inflation levels rise in Euro area

Annual inflation levels in the euro area rose last month, which could be of note to those with private wealth in the region.

The European Commission has revealed that for Euro area1, levels increased from 2.4 per cent in February 2011 to 2.7 per cent in March.

This is also an increase of 1.6 per cent from March 2010.

Findings revealed that annual inflation for EU3 rose to 3.1 per cent last month from 2.9 per cent reported in February.

The countries that experienced the highest rates of inflation were Romania and Estonia, with eight per cent and 5.1 per cent respectively.

Bulgaria and Hungary both reported inflation levels of 4.6 per cent.

Comparatively, Ireland had the lowest rate of inflation last month at 1.2 per cent.

This could impact those who were considering investing in private equity in the region, following the suggestion of Liesbeth Rubinstein, manager of Invesco Perpetual's Emerging European Equity Fund.

She recently stated that the region could deliver good returns as it has "bounced back well from the global financial crisis".
