Edinburgh businesses fight for prize

Four Edinburgh-based firms are among the five finalists for a prestigious business prize.

Business Stream, MediaCom Scotland, Petroleum Experts and Selex Galileo will all be competing for the Grant Thornton Business of the Year Award at the National Business Awards for Scotland, scheduled to take place tonight (June 24th).

The shortlist is completed by Balhousie Care Group, based in Forfar.

A panel of five judges will select the winning entrant, using criteria such as strong leadership in the economic downturn, continued healthy financial results and having clear goals on innovation.

The awards ceremony takes place at the Hilton Glasgow Hotel and is hosted by Stephen Jardine, a journalist and television presenter on STV.

Other prizes at the event include the Orange Best Use of Technology in Business Award and the Scotsman Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Tony Banks from Balhousie Care Group is one of the people in the running for the entrepreneur prize.
