Peel Holdings signals Salford commitment

Salford retains the potential to drive regional growth with many regeneration projects in the pipeline, a local business boss has confirmed.

Speaking to the Salford Advertiser, Peel Holdings managing director Andrew Simpson said that the improvements would be of long-term benefit to the area and would help to build prosperity.

The property and transport giants currently plan to upgrade several areas in town, including the MediaCityUK development - which is set to host some BBC departments in future - and the Salford Forest Park development.

Mr Simpson also confirmed that Peel remained ’absolutely committed’ to the new Barton stadium project - another potential driver of growth.

’It’s easy to think of Salford as being back streets, a kind of Coronation Street, but if you actually look at it, it forms a key part of what you would call Manchester city centre,’ he added

’It’s got fantastic cultural heritage and fantastic sporting heritage … As a region, its got tremendous potential.’

A Cushman & Wakefield study released in 2008 revealed that Manchester was the second-best city in the UK in which to do business, behind London.

Transport links, office space and overall quality of life were all rated and ranked for various urban centres by the firm, over the course of the research.ADNFCR-2318-ID-19302443-ADNFCR
