Commercial property 'offers investment opportunities'

Investing in commercial property could offer some ’interesting opportunities’ for people who are willing to take a long-term view, it has been claimed.

Andrew Pitts, editor of Money Observer, said that commercial property investment vehicles can be a good option for those who are sure of their objectives and timeframe.

He also explained that investors must choose between ’three or four very distinct kinds of vehicles’ before investing in a commercial property fund.

’Investors should not lose sight of the fact - as they did in the past - that these are predominantly income-producing vehicles and they should not be viewed as capital gains vehicles,’ Mr Pitts explained.

Last week, the latest Property Investment Perspective report from Reita found that 54 per cent of property experts have noticed a significant improvement in investment conditions in the last quarter.

In addition, 71 per cent said that secondary property yields will start to contract next year, narrowing the current gap between primary and secondary yields.
