Professional investors are regaining confidence, says expert

Optimism in the investor market is beginning to return, one specialist has claimed.

Adrian Lowcock, senior adviser for the industry at Bestinvest.co.uk, noted that while confidence has not returned to the levels seen leading up to 2007, a positive attitude is beginning to come back.

He remarked: ’Confidence increasing is a natural follow on from stock market recovery, particularly [because], from as early as March, people were talking about another Great Depression.’

According to Mr Lowcock, the recent GDP figures were ’surprisingly low’, but he stated that equities are likely to continue to flourish due to increased economic stimulus and the reduced cost of debt.

More security in financial institutions is also encouraging, he added, so hopefully sentiments will follow on the back of that.

Data from the Association of Investment Companies investor confidence index published earlier this week showed that optimism in the sector is at its highest level since March 2006.
