Bleak tax survey released by IFAs

A large majority of taxpayers are not making moves to lighten their obligations, despite the fact that the see them as unfair.

This is the main finding of a new report from IFA specialists at Unbiased.co.uk, released yesterday.

According to the poll of UK adults, 81 per cent of people have taken ’no action’ on tax this year.

A total of 84 per cent said that their current tax burden was ’not fair’.
Unbiased.co.uk also showed that 60 per cent of people feel ’powerless’ to take action on tax.

Moreover, 26 per cent of people expect to pay more in tax this year than last - while just ten per cent expect to pay less.

David Elms, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, said: ’It’s worrying that so many people feel powerless to reduce their tax burden, when there are so many ways to make a difference.’

He added: ’Tax can seem a complex issue but in the current climate, it is more important than ever for people to look after their finances and not pay out more than they should to the taxman.’ADNFCR-2318-ID-19126176-ADNFCR
