Investing in gold: The basics outlined

Those seeking alternative investments may like to think about investing their capital into one of the less-obvious options open to them, an expert has highlighted.

Speaking to news provider Rediff.com, financial planning professional Sailesh Multani offers those with gold investments on their mind some insight into how the market operates.

’Traditionally gold is considered to be a hedge against inflation,’ the expert explained to the news provider. ’If you want to invest for the purpose of hedging inflation then you can consider investing in gold’.

Mr Multani added that individuals who are considering nurturing their funds through the gold market should also mull over Gold Exchange Traded Funds.

However, he continued, there are various restrictions that dictate the price of gold at any one time and advised investors to opt into it for the long term.

Mr Multani’s advice comes after gold prices were pushed up to $1,000.75 an ounce in September 2009, following investor concerns about inflation.
