Image rights 'no problem' in Dossena deal
Wages might prove a bigger issue than image rights in the potential move of Liverpool FC defender Andrea Dossena back to Italy, the player’s agent has hinted.
Recent reports have linked the player with a move to Serie A stalwarts Napoli in a multi-million deal.
The player’s agent Federico Pastorello claimed the Italian club has offered Liverpool a £4.3 million-plus-bonuses deal for the 27-year-old.
If completed, the Merseyside club would lose money on the deal, as they bought Dossena for £7 million last season.
However, image rights, a common sticking-point for top-level football transfers, are unlikely to prove a problem if the agent is to be believed.
’Although [Dossena] loves being at a great club like Liverpool, he would welcome the opportunity to join Napoli with great enthusiasm,’ Mr Pastorello said.
’It’s a deal the two clubs are sorting out. We’re waiting for news ... Our intention is to reach an agreement. We will not even have a problem with giving up image rights.’
Dossena is currently in the far east, taking part in Liverpool’s pre-season Asian tour.
He is best-known by Premiership fans for scoring in the Reds’ 4-1 defeat of archrivals Manchester United in March this year.
