Investment opportunities identified in Middle East

The Middle East is a region with ’tremendous growth potential’ in terms of hedge funds and alternative investment opportunities, it has been claimed.

According to a report from hedgeweek.com, the hedge fund industry is poised for significant growth in the Middle East but is still waiting to be galvanised by a major boost in demand.

However, the publication notes that the volatility of markets in the region has made it popular with international investors, particularly since the peak of the financial crisis.

’This incentive is extremely strong, especially within absolute return funds, which can deploy several trading strategies that can take advantage of momentum and sentiment-driven volatility,’ Marc Hambach of Gulfmena Alternative Investments told the news provider.

Hedge funds currently account for less than two per cent of the asset management industry in the Middle East, a figure which highlights the potential for growth that has already attracted some organisations.

A recent report from the Kuwait and Middle East Financial Investment Company stated that the region has potential as a growth area for real estate investment trusts, Emirates Business 24-7 reported.
