New government 'must focus on fiscal deficit'

The new government needs to work together and focus on bringing down the UK’s fiscal deficit ’as soon as possible’.

This is according to head of research from MoneyExpert.com Pierre Williams, who urged the three main parties to agree on a blueprint for tackling the problem.

A hung parliament was confirmed this morning (May 7th) following yesterday’s voting, with the Conservative Party winning the most seats but falling short of the 326 needed to secure a majority.

’The big issue is being able to agree and present a coherent plan,’ he remarked, adding: ’It shouldn’t be a time for party political posturing but for all politicians to work together.’

However, those who have their private wealth in stock, shares or bonds are unlikely to see the UK’s credit rating decline.

Mr Williams said it is likely the UK will hold on to its current rating due to the fact that action to tackle the deficit ’is on the way’.ADNFCR-2318-ID-19764411-ADNFCR
