Private client wealth management 'sets its sights on London'

Foreign private wealth investors seeking favourable assets may find London property increasingly attractive, according to one industry expert.

Wealth management through estate retail has long been considered a solid move, yet demand has fallen among UK residents recently due in part to poor credit availability.

Andrew Teacher, media manager at the British Property Federation, named Qatar as a potential source for large investments in the capital over the coming year.

High cash liquidity combined with the weak pound and low interest rates makes the UK housing and commercial building market an attractive prospect for Qatari speculators, he noted.

A representative of estate agents Jones Lang LaSalle described the region as ’cash-rich and with a strong appetite for splashy overseas assets’.

Mr Teacher suggested the value of ’trophy property’ in the City would never significantly decrease and demand will remain high, creating a pool of ’opportunistic investors’ taking advantage of favourable market conditions. ADNFCR-2318-ID-19840254-ADNFCR
