Foundations and trusts may grow as speculators 'choose wide range of assets'

Foundations and trusts may benefit from investment as confidence is strong and individuals are placing assets in a wider range of vehicles, it has been suggested.

Julie Patterson, director of authorised funds and tax at the Investment Management Association (IMA), says speculators are "diversifying" and showing interest in a wider range of regions and sectors.

This may mean those with private wealth are keen to confer money in foundations and trusts, or consider socially-responsible investment as an alternative way of dealing with liquidity.

IMA data for June shows cautious managed funds were the most popular, while those under management totalled £488.2 billion - slightly down on May, but up 25 per cent on the same period last year.

The group recently commented on the new guidelines for financial regulation, saying good working relationships between interested parties will be critical and urging "balance" in the rules relating to market infrastructure.ADNFCR-2318-ID-19916386-ADNFCR
