Kleinwort Benson announces new heads of Jersey and Guernsey offices

27 November 2006

Kleinwort Benson, the provider of banking and financial services to corporate and private clients in the UK and Channel Islands, is pleased to announce changes to the management structure of the business, expanding the senior management team and appointing dedicated Managing Directors for Jersey and Guernsey.

Angus Taylor, Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Products and Services, will become Managing Director in Jersey and remain on the Executive Committee. Angus has been at Kleinwort Benson for 23 years, including a five year spell in London. An Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute, Angus was appointed to the London Board in June 2006 and his responsibility encompasses banking, investment, financial and fiduciary products.

Sandra Platts has been promoted to Head of Operations, HR and IT, and will become Managing Director of Guernsey as well as joining the new five-strong Executive Committee. Sandra has been at Kleinwort Benson for 20 years and the breadth of her tenure has allowed her to develop a deep understanding of all the client and support functions of the business.

The Kleinwort Benson Executive Committee will be expanded from three to five people, with the addition of Sandra and also Larry Jopp, Head of Finance and Risk. Larry is an experienced finance director, with an extensive background gained in senior finance and risk roles at major international banking groups.

Richard Robins, Deputy Chief Executive, and Jim Gilligan, Head of Private Wealth Management, will both be retiring from their roles at the end of the year after many valuable years of service, but will both be remaining with Kleinwort Benson as Channel Islands Board Members.

Kleinwort Benson has recently undergone a strategic business and brand review, resulting in a redefinition of the business into two distinct lines - private wealth management and corporate fiduciary and intermediaries. This represents the different needs of the private client and corporate markets and puts in place the infrastructure to take the business to its next level of growth.

Robert Taylor, CEO, commenting on the new appointments said: "I am delighted to welcome Sandra and Larry to our expanded Executive Committee, and congratulate Sandra and Angus on their new roles as Managing Directors of Guernsey and Jersey respectively. The Channel Islands continue to be a strong growth area for our business, with increased focus on the services we can provide corporate clients in the region, including innovative solutions such as administration for private equity funds. We are committed to developing the Kleinwort Benson business across the UK and Channel Islands, and these new appointments give us a strong platform for expansion. Additionally, I would like to thank Richard and Jim for their extraordinary contribution to the growth of the business in the UK and Channel Islands, and am pleased that they have agreed to remain on the Board in a non-executive capacity".
