13 October, 2008

Kleinwort Benson, recently voted Best Private Bank 2008[i] , has celebrated it’s 45th Anniversary in the Channel Islands by holding two concerts for staff and clients, with an auction of promises in support of The Anthony Nolan Trust.

Recreating the 1963 Beatles tour of the Channel Islands, which is the same year in which Kleinwort Benson opened its doors for business in Guernsey, The Bootleg Beatles entertained staff and clients at concerts in Guernsey andJersey. The concerts were held in support of The Anthony Nolan Trust which Kleinwort Benson has had a strong relationship with in the Channel Islands over the past 10 years.

Celebrity auctioneer and snooker legend Willie Thorne encouraged guests to dig deep in support of The Anthony Nolan Trust and the auction of promises raised £31,925 in the two islands. Guests also made cash donations of £2777 during the two events and Kleinwort Benson has matched this figure.

Guests bid on a variety of lots ranging from a signed Take That album to a lavish stay at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Oxfordshire, Raymond Blanc’s two star Michelin restaurant and hotel. Amongst other lots they also had the opportunity to bid for a signed England 2007 rugby shirt, Cordon Bleu cookery tuition, a tour of the Berry Bros wine vaults in London or a night at the Grange Opera.

Guy Parkes, Head of Corporate Relationships at The Anthony Nolan Trust said,  "On behalf of The Anthony Nolan Trust, I am delighted at the fantastic level of support that Kleinwort Benson has generated for our Charity both financially and by helping us to raise our profile in the Channel Islands. The Anthony Nolan Trust is at the cutting edge of the fight against leukaemia and is pioneering in its field, a quality shared by Kleinwort Benson who clearly recognize the importance of our life saving work and its benefit for the wider community."

Sandra Platts/Angus Taylor Managing Director of Kleinwort Benson in Gsy/Jsy commented, "The Bootleg Beatles concert was a night to remember for our staff and clients and it was great to be able to celebrate our 45th anniversary in the Channel Islands with them. We have had a long relationship with The Anthony Nolan Trust and over the past ten years have raised over £300,000 for the charity through the Kleinwort Benson Cycle Challenge. To raise this much for the charity at the two celebratory concerts in Jersey and Guernsey is just wonderful, and I would like to thank everyone for their generous contributions."
