Kleinwort Benson’s Edinburgh operation has been strengthened with appointment of Gordon Scott, who will head up the office of the leading private bank with responsibility for both the Scottish and Northern Irish markets. "We have been very fortunate in attracting Gordon from Standard Life, where for over ten years he had been playing a key role in the company’s increasingly important presence in the high net worth market," explains Colin Rowe, Head of Kleinwort Benson’s regional network.
Importantly, says Mr Rowe, Gordon Scott brings a considerable depth of experience as a highly qualified Chartered Financial Planner concentrating on investment, pension and Inheritance Tax Planning solutions for High Net Worth individuals. These skills represent an excellent fit for Kleinwort Benson, which uniquely offers holistic bespoke investment management services at the upper end of the market where portfolio values exceed £1-million.
"Gordon’s reputation is without parallel. He joins Kleinwort Benson with an excellent personal and professional standing in Scotland and he has already proven to be a perfect addition to the expanding regional team at Kleinwort Benson," says Mr Rowe.
"We would expect to recruit further private banking managers this year and in anticipation of this growth, we are moving our offices from St Andrew Square to prestigious offices in Charlotte Square, where we will be in the heart of the financial district of Edinburgh," adds Gordon.
According to Gordon Scott there are tangible differences between the award winning Kleinwort Benson and other wealth management operations north of the border. Voted Best Private Bank 2008 by readers of The Financial Times and Investors Chronicle he believes the approach at the organisation is truly holistic with an exceptional level of personal service, and a high quality range of diverse investment products. This breadth of expertise and skill will now be focused through Gordon so that an individual and tailored strategy is implemented and maintained for every client.
"Our timing also looks like it may prove very productive in terms of new client business," says Gordon Scott. "In spite of sharp declines in equities and property over the past twelve months, Scotland is still able to boast significant wealth held by individual investors, trusts and charities. With rapidly changing economic conditions, there is growing recognition that a close relationship with trusted advisers is crucial to the efficient investment navigation in increasingly stormy times."
