In difficult times we all need to evaluate where our business comes from and to investigate unexplored territory. Sue Stockdale heads up the London chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) and is always seeking new ways to support the London-based group.
"The WPO is a supportive resource which provides knowledge and skills to high achieving business women. Our members must generate a minimum turnover of £500,000.00 per annum, so these are business women seeking to excel to the next level. The WPO is always looking for thought provoking and inspiring presentations. There is vast scope for doing business in the Middle East and through discussions with the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) we were delighted to welcome John Ellis, a UAE and Middle East Business Development Consultant, who has hands-on experience of doing business in this area."
The presentation discussed ways in which to attract and conduct business, the need to understand and respect different cultures, and the importance of managing expectations. Current growth industries include Energy, Travel and Tourism, Financial and Professional Services, Healthcare and Education.
Kleinwort Benson has supported the WPO since the London chapter launched and hosts all meetings at its London offices.
"We have supported the WPO for some time now and were pleased to offer the group the chance to hear more about developing their businesses in the Middle East", said Rebecca Constable, Senior Private Banker at Kleinwort Benson. "This is a growing opportunity for many companies and key for many of the women entrepreneurs that I meet".
"The Women Presidents’ Organization is a unique way in which women who have spent many years building their own businesses can interact with other similarly successful female entrepreneurs, gaining valuable insight and advice on running a business in today’s challenging economic environment. They meet regularly and share best practice on the situations and challenges that they encounter, knowing that they can rely on the counsel that they receive from other serious minded business women. This was the first time I had attended one of the networking events and I was highly impressed by the breadth of experience the group has and the variety of businesses represented. In today’s financial climate it was encouraging to see so many different industries represented, a clear indication of the value members place on the support that they receive from the WPO."
