Kleinwort Benson recognised for strong wealth management performance

In a recent survey of wealth management and investment firms, Kleinwort Benson was found to have given the best returns in 2009, with the average performance of private clients’ balanced portfolios in the company standing at 25.7 per cent.

The Financial Times found the wealth management provider best reflected last year’s strong market gains, as the FTSE All-Share index grew 30 per cent and emerging markets indicators surged by up to 61 per cent.

Private wealth management using higher risk capital growth portfolios were among the best performers, with the leader in this category delivering 44 per cent returns, the publication reveals.

Almost half of Kleinwort Benson’s private wealth investment is in equities, with the remainder split between products such as bonds and hedge funds.

Analysts argue a slow response to market recovery on the part of investment managers may have kept profits down, as a bounce back in the spring signalled the beginning of an improved financial climate.

The newspaper recently reported private equity firms plan to invest billions of pounds in British funds in a bid to reduce liquidity, with healthcare and consumer products among the favoured sectors.ADNFCR-2318-ID-19873360-ADNFCR
