Leeds "strategically important" as UK city
Leeds is ideally located for investment, lying halfway between Liverpool and Hull and London and Edinburgh, a fact which could encourage investors to the city’s private banking and
private wealth institutions.
William Hall, writing in a Financial Times supplement entitled Doing Business in the Leeds City Region, said its motorway network including the M62 and M1 offers easy access.
In order to take advantage of the benefit of doing business in Leeds, however, more investment has to be made in the region.
Steps have been taken, such as last year’s opening of the East Leeds Link Road, which he said will provide 27,000 new jobs over the next ten to 15 years.
Mr Hall noted that more definite plans need to come to fruition to discover how Leeds can fit into the proposed 335-mile high-speed rail network.
His comments follow fellow correspondent Andrew Bounds stating that the city remains an important financial centre, buoyed by the number of financial institutions which come from and reside there.
