Private wealth property investment better in Scotland?

Private wealth property investment might be a sensible move for those looking to buy in Scotland, as one expert notes house prices are lower in the country, with mortgage repayments also more affordable in many cases.

Those with private wealth interested in diversifying their assets could consider buy-to-let properties in the region or purchasing a second home in Caledonia, which is popular with many for its golfing and shooting opportunities.

David Marshall, business analyst for real estate marketers ESPC, observes: "Scotland has always been comparatively affordable compared to the rest of the UK."

However, he notes this "is not uniform across the board", adding some areas are much more expensive than the UK average.

For those with private wealth to invest, this could indicate values in the region will appreciate significantly and acquiring assets in Scotland may turn out to be a financially-attractive move.
