London property investment 'best in Europe'

Those with private wealth looking to invest in the rental market should consider London first, according to one expert.

Mat Oakley, director of commercial research at Savills, claims England's capital is "about a year ahead in the cycle of most other European cities", explaining: "It went down first, but it is coming back first."

Britons with private wealth could see a good return on real estate in the city as demand for rental properties is rising, coupled with "very restrained development" meaning vacancies are falling and 'will continue to do so'.

For those hoping to capitalise on relatively low costs in the property market, purchasing in London may pay dividends, as the specialist advises central areas will be less affected by austerity measures, meaning demand and long-term value should be cushioned from the shock felt in other parts of the country.

Jones Lang LaSalle reported yesterday (October 11th) the UK capital has jumped back to first place in terms of real estate investment in European cities, up from eighth place last year.  ADNFCR-2318-ID-800111102-ADNFCR
