Socially responsible investing pays off with EcoBonds

Socially responsible investment may provide better returns than ever before, with the launch of a new ethical vehicle paying up to 7.5 per cent interest a year.

Ecotricity is offering its EcoBonds product to those interested in social investing, allowing people with private wealth to work alongside the UK's largest independent green energy company.

The four-year fixed rate bonds pay an annual rate of seven per cent - or 7.5 per cent for Ecotricity customers - and can be bought by individuals, companies, charities and other legal entities.

Established in 1995, the 'not-for-dividend' enterprise reinvests earnings to build further sources of sustainable power.

Dale Vince OBE, Ecotricity founder and managing director, commented: "National Ethical Investment Week shows that people are increasingly looking for ways to invest ethically. Our EcoBonds let people do that and get involved in the Green Revolution."

With more than 50 windmills at 15 locations UK-wide, the group supplies 42,000 customers with green electricity, reducing CO2 emissions by 50,000 tonnes a year.  ADNFCR-2318-ID-800235987-ADNFCR
