Meet the Team

JAMES CAIRNEY

Private Client Executive (London)

James joined Kleinwort Benson in February 2007 and is responsible for the development of new business for the fiduciary teams in the Channel Islands and London.

 

James has worked in the finance industry since 1988, first with Royal Bank of Scotland before moving to private banking at Coutts & Co. Since 1993, James has specialised in fiduciary structures, initially as a Trust Manager in the Isle of Man and, since moving to London in 1999, as a business development executive.

 

Over the years, James has been heavily involved in advising High Net Worth individuals on the structuring and implementation of tailored fiduciary vehicles, either directly with the individual or in close consultation with a professional adviser.

 

James holds the Investment Advice Certificate and received an MBA with distinction from Edinburgh Business School in 2004.

SARAH HANNA

Executive Trust Director (Jersey)

Sarah joined Kleinwort Benson in 2005 and is based in Jersey. She has shared responsibility for business development in the Private Fiduciary area of the Channel Islands business, together with ultimate overview of particular high net worth private client relationships within the Jersey operation and is a Director of Kleinwort Benson (Jersey) Trustees Limited.

Sarah began her career in 1979 with Williams & Glyns (now part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group), switching to Private Client work in 1981, following a move to Standard Chartered.  She joined the Kleinwort Benson group after 10 years as Manager and then Executive Director with Bank of Bermuda’s Jersey Trust company, where she had responsibility for the Private Trust team and specialised in fiduciary structures. The Bank of Bermuda was purchased by HSBC in 2004 and she left to move to Kleinwort Benson the following year.  
 
Sarah is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) - now known as the Institute of Financial Services - a registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP), a member of the Jersey Taxation Society and Institute of Directors. She sits on the Institute of Financial Services main committee in Jersey.

NICK KERR-SHEPPARD

Team Leader in Private Fiduciary LPA (London)

Nick is team leader of London Private Fiduciary and a director of Kleinwort Benson Trustees Limited, a long established and respected corporate trust and estate company. Nick joined Grieveson Grant Stockbrokers in 1984 working as a settlements team leader during ’Big Bang’ and transferred to the fiduciary business a couple of years after Grievesons were taken over by Kleinwort Benson in 1986.

He was educated in Sevenoaks, Kent and has passed numerous professional qualifications including the Financial Planning Certificate, Pensions Regulator Trustee Toolkit Certificate, Securities Institute Registered Representative, Securities Institute Foundation Certificate and the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Diploma.

He is a member of STEP, the STEP Charity Special Interest Group and the Association of Charitable Foundations.

Nick lives in Tunbridge Wells, Kent with his wife Hayley, who also used to work for KB, and their two sons.

 

 
RICK LE BRUN

Rick is the leader of one of the four private client fiduciary teams in the Channel Islands. Rick is based in the Guernsey office and joined Kleinwort Benson in September 2008 to take up the position of team leader.
 
Rick was educated at Elizabeth College in Guernsey before starting his career in the finance industry in 1980. He has nearly thirty years of experience with the vast majority of that time spent within the fiduciary private client sector. Rick was the deputy managing director of Equity Trust in Guernsey prior to re-joining Kleinwort Benson in September of last year. Rick is a member of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners and is a member of the Society of Financial Advisors in the UK.
 
Rick lives with his wife, Rachel, in Guernsey and as well as being a keen wine enthusiast includes travelling, fishing and playing the piano amongst his interests.
 

 

 
 
PATRICK LE GALLEZ

Patrick is the leader of one of the four private client fiduciary teams in the Channel Islands. Patrick is based in the Guernsey office and joined Kleinwort Benson in July 1984 direct from school.  He took up a position as a Trust Administrator later that year and has worked in the Private Fiduciary area of Kleinwort Benson ever since, becoming a Director in 1997, and then Head of one of the administration teams in 2007. 
 
Patrick was educated at Elizabeth College in Guernsey.  He qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1994 and became a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in 1996.
 
Patrick is married to Sue and has two children, who take up much of his spare time.  He is a keen, albeit occasional, golfer as well as being interested in most sports.
 

 

SEAN BAUDIN

Team Leader in Private Fiduciary JPA (Jersey)

Sean is the leader of one of the four private client fiduciary teams in the Channel Islands. Sean is based in the Jersey office and joined Kleinwort Benson in August 1989 to take up a position as a Trust Officer and was subsequently appointed to the board of the Trust Company in 1998.
 
Sean was educated at Hautlieu School in Jersey. Sean started his career in the finance industry in 1985 with a high street bank owned trust company and therefore has twenty four years of experience working within the fiduciary private client sector. Sean is a member of the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners, having passed the Diploma for International Trust Management with distinctions in all subjects.
 
Sean lives with his partner, Judith, and two young children, Bethany and Leoni in Jersey and, whilst having previously travelled extensively, now classifies himself as a sports enthusiast.
 

 

SIMON KLEIS

Team Leader in Private Fiduciary JPB (Jersey)

Simon heads up one of the four private client fiduciary teams in the Channel Islands and is based in the Jersey office. He commenced his career with Kleinwort Benson in September 1984 and was appointed a director of the Trust company in 1997. 

He qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in May 1992 (Trustee Diploma) finishing with the fourth highest aggregate marks at the time of completion and he also is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners joining in 1995. He was moderator in relation to the Certificate in Offshore Administration qualification, on the Introduction to Trusts & Companies and Company & Trust Administration subjects, during the period 1998 to 2006.

Simon is married to Julie and has two daughters. He lists surfing, football, winter sports and music as his interests.
